چکیده

Abstract This study investigated the relative distribution of sand-separating minerals and effect sedimentary climatic conditions on their in some soils from northern southern Iraq. The samples were collected four Iraqi governorates: Erbil (included areas Shaqlawa, Soran, Juman), Sulaymaniyah Dokan, Sayed Sadeq, Halabja), Maysan Al-Kahla, Ali Al-Sharqi, Awasha, Kumit, Al-Gharbi, Al-Tayyib), Wasit Governorate Zurbatiya, Badra, Jassan, Al-Muwafiqiyah, Al-Numaniyah, Zubaidiyah). results indicated that percentages light sand higher than heavy all sites. It is attributed to nature mineral composition intensity weathering factor’s influence sedimentation sites or during transportation. also dominance quartz group, followed by group carbonate rock pieces feldspar terms within part soil Iraq (Wasit Maysan). rock-cut was dominant, (Erbil Sulaymaniyah). other found varying proportions samples, which included (mudstone, lime, evaporites, igneous metamorphic rocks, clay-coated grains, minerals). showed opaque non-opaque minerals, (zircon, tourmaline, rutile, strolite, epidote, kyanite) with irregularity a significant difference as large indicate they bear transportation over long distances resistance processes. These ratios more evident regions Sulaymaniyah, processes (wet climate) compared low appeared due short distance diversity source rocks.

Numerical study of sedimentary impact of a storm on a sand beach simulated by hydrodynamic and sedimentary models

− In marine coastal environments, storms have a major morphological impact on sand beaches. This study, part of the French Programme National d’Environnement Côtier, consisted in developing and applying hydrodynamic and sedimentary models to simulate the major processes that modify sand beaches. In order to study sediment dynamics, we developed three models to simulate waves, currents and sedim...

Investigating the Effect of Sedimentary Basin on Consolidation of Kerman Fine-Grained Soils

In this research, the effects of a sedimentary basin, environmental conditions, and the passage of time were investigated on consolidation processes and engineering characteristics of fine-grained soils in Kerman city. For this purpose, the natural consolidation curves of soil samples extracted from different locations of Kerman city were compared with the Kerman city intrinsic consolidation li...
